I saw we should give the traditional fantasy a try. We've stuck with the Dragonball genre for quite a while. This would be a nice change of pace as long as it can be well worked.

I surprisingly enough agree with Lore on this... Though it needs to be worked on by staff majorly. Though I still like some things from past experiences. Kinda like making our own races. Though that is me.

It also matters on what happens and what the rules are. It is hard to vote before the rules come out.

Now then, it seems the general consensus is that the RPG could use more depth as far as character stats and development, as well as a central plot that develops around the characters organically, rather than a random event.

Discuss further Fuck yeah

B3, I wouldn't exactly be talking if I were you since you're little bash moment in MS's topic - "Unrightful Banishment". In that regard you yourself would get that one week ban too. Be lucky that you'll participating in this new one at all.

Definitely the Traditional fantasy one, however this would take a great deal of staff interaction. And a leveling system, and wild encounters and boss battles, dungeons.....

I did not see any bashing. I only saw the truth. Where is the bashing? I did not call you any other name but Lore which is a abbreviation for your name. If you dislike me calling you Lore let me know. Otherwise it doesn't come even come close to bashing. Though if you would have read I did say "Not to sound bashful."

Not to sound bashful but have you noticed Lore has caused a great some of problems? I mean it is very easy to notice.... Should I grab out the list? (Again not trying to sound bashful just I again suck at typing)

Sorry to add to the shitstorm, but B3 why are you instigating? You're this kid on the side just poking and prodding to cause more trouble. Calm down, this isn't about you.

Why do you even think that this is even about me? Did I say B3,BBB, or beastboybrown... I think not. I said Lore.

No,I'm talking about the fact that you're in here complaining about off-topic problems that only you seem to have.

I am talking about things Lore has done to cause problems... Like this topic here for example. That is 2 people having problems with lore so far. Then I can bring up my old friends which had problems with lore. Should I bring them all up?[/quote]

And because I am a nice guy I am also gonna leave this part of the topic here.

B3, I am a reasonable man, therefore I am stating point blank: since I've been back, there have been more incidents, arguments, and squabbling involving you than any other member.

Stop instigating, stop being baited into arguments, and leave matters that have been settled alone. This is your final warning from me.

Do not quote this post and try to reason against me. Do not argue this ruling. You will comply or I will make you leave this website, it's that simple. If you can't get along with people, then you can go somewhere else.

As for everyone else, stop picking fights with this kid, or I'll punish you as well. I'm sick of this crap.

I am as serious as I can be. I do not care what your status or length of membership is. Keep this constant bickering up and I'll IP ban you for as many years as forumotion allows.

Period.

On the other side of this topic, Rav, I can do all that pretty well by localizing the campaigns people are in to one continuous thread. You can be in several campaigns at once, each with the same or different characters, but the campaigns do not cross. You could be a level 3 Orc Fighter in one campaign and a level 12 Elf Mage in another if you wanted. People leading one campaign could be players in another and vice versa.

Mind explaining that a bit more? I'm a very big continuity fan, (I wouldn't be in more than one topic at a time in this RPG), but I'm not exactly sure if I follow it entirely. From what I interpret though, I love it.

Assume you are the DM of a campaign: you lead the story for a group of 4-6 players. The entire adventure, from level 1 to 30, will all happen in one thread. You can stay in the same town, countryside, or all across the world. You can fight in dungeons, attack castles and dragons or whatever you envision, but one campaign sticks to one long thread, with XP and whatnot given out as you, the DM, sees fit.

You can be in a thread as the DM, in another separate thread as a player in a completely new campaign. Two different campaigns do not cross over, however. Your campaign could end at level 23, and a new campaign could be formed to take up arms with almost every player rejoining, but new player(s) added to start a lvl 23 character to join in.

Make sense?

I forgot the official name of the race I wanna play but it is basically a frog-like creator.... And no it is not Quemon. I just like frogs :3

Other then a frog being very dextrose it also has some major abilities that a thief would need. Plus I still very much like frogs and other animals. But again it is still based on what races you decided and let in and so forth... Still I have a very basic idea what character I want to be.

That's sounds like a good plan Blues, although there would obviously have to be small groups I each topic, or everything would get clusterfucked in the ass.

Pretty much. Say I was running the campaign and you, Onis, Fortex, B3, and Tails were the players. Sad as that is, other players wouldn't be able to join that particular campaign, but there's nothing stopping them from creating a campaign with a different roster. The reason for the player size is that with 2-3 players, there just aren't enough to cover basic group dynamics, and with 6+ the rounds in combat get unwieldy and take far too long.

Essentially I'm building us an RPG framework that the DM of each campaign can either stick to the letter to, or fudge in a number of ways to customize their adventure.

1. You can have a group of 4-6.
2. We'll have more or less traditional fantasy classes: fighter, rogue, mage, archer, priest, etc.
3. We'll be using the d20 archetype roles of Defender, Striker, Controller, and Leader.
-Defenders are usually melee (but not always) and do decent damage with high defenses.
-Strikers are melee or ranged and do high damage, sacrificing defenses.
-Controllers are usually ranged (but not always) that deal moderately high damage to larger groups and apply status affects.
-Leaders are melee or ranged and are primarily healers, giving benefits to allies and penalties to enemies, yet can deal decent damage and have decent defenses.
4. Each class can be played in a few different ways, such as Fighters being able to fill the Defender or Striker role, largely pending the choices of Feats, Powers, and Equipment.
5. Parties of adventurers must work together using skills, strength, and powers to overcome adversaries and complete epic quests and discover ancient treasures.
6. Players will very rarely combat against each other, give the group dynamic of the adventure.
7. Players will have a set of primary stats (Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma) which affect all their abilities, skills, etc.
8. Non-combat skills will play great importance, including everything from bluffing and intimidating merchants, climbing mountainsides, deciphering ancient draconic runes, etc.
9. Players will gain equipment and increased abilities as the adventure goes on, growing in power from exceptional individuals to practically divine champions.

Further questions, please.

I'd like to see some kind of class progression too, such as initial talent tree Bonuses in WoW or Job Advancements in Maplestory.

For example, if you reach X level or Power level or whatever you wanna call it, you can choose between 3 different set abilities.

Wizard

Level 10 Path choices

Necromancer - Pet gained! [Summon Undead Warrior] Summon an undead warrior to guard the necromancer.

Priest - Ability gained! [Holy Shock!] - Heals group for large amount. Once per battle.

Elementalist - Ability gained! - [Meteor Shower] - Summons a large meteor shower to damage foes.

Just my 2 cents. I'd try to figure out a system that doesn't revolve too much around stats since that is a pain in the ass to keep up with. Also think about Level requirements and restrictions to battle tournaments (PvP)

This RPG is story driven, so random purposeless battles against one another won't be happening within the adventure. If you don't like it, too bad. It won't really make sense for you and your fellow adventurers plunging into ancient dwarf ruins and then one of you decide to attack the others, aside from some kind of madness or spell-induced mind control. Out of Story 1v1 player versus player combat could be a possibility, though.

When you choose your class, you'll pick your build, so if you want to be a rogue you can choose between the Assassin build, focusing more on stealth attacks, ranged attacks, and out and out murder; or the Thief build, focusing more on distraction, trickery, and using your wits as well as your blades to escape danger.
Once you reach a predetermined level (probably 10), you'll choose to advance your class and build into further specialization, and at, say, level 20, you'll begin your Epic Destiny, in which you have begun to transcend the limits of mortals and take your place among legends.

Also, since editing is for people who aren't orange Crosseyehappy

The stats in this won't be terribly difficult. You can update each power with a shorthand of what you'll need to use, so if you're a Wizard with a Fireball spell something like this:

Fireball
At-Will Standard Action
Ranged: 10 Target: One creature
Keywords: Arcane, Fire
Attack: Intelligence vs Reflex
Hit: 1d8 + Intelligence modifier Fire damage.
Level 11: 2d8 + Intelligence modifier Fire damage.
Level 21: 3d8 + Intelligence modifier Fire damage.

At the top, you see the name of the power: Fireball. It is an At-Will power, which means you can use it as many times as you wish in combat, although it being a Standard Action means it takes up your main action on your turn. It has a range of 10 squares from you to the target (more about squares later, although I'm sure some of you will have seen miniatures on a dungeon map at some point before. If not, google it) and it targets only one creature.
Every ability has 2 dice rolls involved: the attack roll and the damage roll. All attack rolls are made with a 20-sided die, or a d20.
So in the case of Fireball, in order to successfully hit a creature, you will roll a d20 and add your Intelligence modifier, which in the case of this example, is 3. Your roll is 15. Your total attack roll is 18 because the 15 of your roll is added to your Intelligence modifier of 3. Not too hard right?
For damage, each power has a specific amount it can deal. In this case, you deal 1d8, or one 8-sided die, plus your intelligence modifier as Fire damage (note that some creatures have resistances or weaknesses to specific types of damage).
So, if your attack roll was successful in hitting the creature, you roll damage. If your d8 comes up as 6, you add your Intelligence modifier, which was 3 if you'll recall from the previous example, for a total of 9 damage.

Not too bad right?

Powers will advance as you level, although you can gain new powers as well.

I've tried to do that for years. We can do it, the only downside is you can only have ONE character in it. It's a limit of forumotion that we can't customize >.<
I'm right there with you in that it would be completely awesome though. I've wanted it for a long time.
