All the vamp & make a form & faceset and so on... "competition" all this things should go to Requests and Help or we should make a new place to post them cuz I got sick from all the vamp competition that are more like "hey I to lazy/noob to make the sprite my self so I want you all to revamp my sprite and I will call it a competition" in custom thats just wrong and annoying >.<

I dont care if its an original comp like made a charecter from anime or from pic things like that are fine they can be on custom I just talk about all the "comp" that are just for self pleasure

you're absolutely right. i completely agree with you. i myself am a noob but i don't like to request things from others. all those competitions are entirely unneccessary. look at me, i like to do things myself even if i cant make something look good ill keep practicing. facesets... mine look horrid but i dont give up. come on ppl, dont be lazy and make stupid competitions just because you dont want to do it yourself. how else are you going to improve?

I... (myself being a veteren and not a n00b =P) actually agree with the young squier's little post. I believe it is just an act of laziness, and the fact that these are done without any real prizes or rewards just makes it all the more unreal.
I don't mind OFFICIAL Vortex competitions held by the mods or admins, but all these pointless... "Sprite me a new skin colour" competitions are idiotic.

Sure its a test of spriting skill but it uses up too much of the custom space so they should either be gotten rid of or given a new section.

I actually brought this up to AngryBoy, but like he said the only way to stop it is for us all to just discourage it.

I know for a fact there should be a rule against comps, noobs use them to just get us to make them sprites which they then use and don't even bloody say thank you.

Yeah we have all made comps but I've never used what people have sent me for personal gain, just for a look at how other people would make my customs.

Let me just elaborate on what I said to Fortex in the PM.

People are lazy by nature, and so they will always find some way to 'cheat the system' out of doing work. This situation with competitions is just one of those instances. Competitions like this are generally supposed to be benefitial to the people involved, so it'd be a shame to discourage competitions as a whole, or to ban them. What would be more efficient would be for members to collectively decide not to partake in competitions that appear to be made for the selfish reasons you've pointed out (a boycott, in a sense). It would therefore be an 'unspoken rule', as are many others that we have, but not something that always requires staff intervention.

I can't help but notice irony in AB's post in tis topic.

I didnt want to stop all the comps just the one that are only for self pleasure thats why I think it will be better if those kind of "comp" will be post in Requests and Help or in a new place

your unspoken rule is good but here is an idea why not just befor making a comp the ppl that want to make it PM to an admin (or to some one that will be charge on it) that he want to make a new comp (and post the details of it) and if the admin see the comp is ok he can send him "you can open your comp" or the admin can tell him "this comp is for self pleasure plz post it in request and help or dont post it at all"

and the user that make a comp will have to post from who he got the premision to start it

I think if someone does make a competition for personal gain only, people should just not post in the topic. Problem solved. :)

The admins/people assigned shouldn't need to verify every competition. People should have the right to just post it and let it fall or fly.

Shin, is it lazy to decide against making a rule making the staff regulate something that actually doesn't need staff regulation? I know where you're picking the irony from, but the scales are not balanced on this subject. The popularity of those types of competitions can easily be nulified if the members just decide for themselves not to get involved.

I was referring to VRP. Didn't mean it directed towards YOU to be exact.

AB I agree and disagree about this well so why just not to make a comps place or just post a rule about all those comps that are for self pleasure should be posting in Requests and Help (cuz it really not hard to see which comp belong to which place)

Yeah, coz making over 25 sheets is lazy. Real lazy.

I say we just boycot these comps. I think I was one of the first to point out that the lazy people will only make these comps so it benefits them. It's true what sky said, the noobs are the only ones who really make these topics.
I would only partake in one if I knew the host of the comp was doing it for reasons that aren't selfish.
Like the one Kobushi made about vamping his custom. He was stuck in between a sprite and pixelated hard place.
Thats why so many people joined.

as I saied thats the main problam its just annoying to see those comp they really stand in the way and make me dont want to take part in I get the point AB that people should have the right to just post it and let it fall or fly but they also have the obligation to post them in the right place and I think the custom section is not that place and they should be in request and help or in a new place you can open for those comp

Ok, that is a compromise I can meet at. Competitions that seem like requests dressed up as a competition can be moved to the Requests board (if it is seen either by staff to be one, or by the majority of people viewing the topic as one).

Also, when Stevce was saying to boycott the comps, he didn't mean all of them. He meant the ones fitting the criteria that of being selfish/are requests in disguise. SSj5Bob made a competition for a Ritsku revamp some time ago on the Excoboard, but I wouldn't class that in the same way as I could for a new member, because I know from personal experience that he wasn't doing it with the same motive.
