Then PM jedrulzu (team vrp but not a moderator) for the sake of test, just link him here to explain it.

I'm baffled by this glitch, I'm thinking it could be tied to 'Groups' perhaps the forum isn't allowing members to pm members/mods in specific groups... there has to be some link.

But then again, I've read that members can't PM other members, is that true?

Well like a week ago Chaos and Vegeku were able to Pm me, and I was unable to pm vegeku back. Didn't try with chaos though.

I don't know if that helped, but it might shed some light on the situation.

There isn't even a PM button available on Jedrulzu's profile for me, and there isn't one for Nexus or Seto either.

I've found out that all Moderators and Admins can PM everyone.

Yeah all admins and mods can PM each other. Nexus and I have PM'd each other a few times(and I recieved his recent one)

I still don't get why I can't recieve PM's from members though :s

How about we make all members Moderators but remove all powers.

I wanna see if Luka ( who we've proved can't PM you) can PM you once once he becomes a moderator.

If he can the ability to PM must be tied to special groups... which will raise a couple of more complex issues...

Well Nexus, the moderator group is essence is a just a group, the moderator power is allocated via permissions set within the group... I'm not aware of an option to allow/disallow pm's inside groups so I'm interested to see what happens when Luka trys.

Depending on Luka's results I may be able to make another group with similar settings but without any mod links (as you suggested)

I feel we're making a little progress, I won't jump the gun and get excited though until Luka comes back online.

Yeah I realised that it might be a usergroup proble
when Nexus raised the good point of me only being able to PM admins and mods.

Nope, there is a seperate PM section and its all enabled, individual PM settings set by members such as yourself are also enabled...

But there is a suspicious option entitled 'permission to send PM mailing list' inside each group which has the flags; user, groups, mods, admins. All groups are set to 'member', this option is merely meant to allow/disallow members from PM'ing the members of the group (like admins not wanting to be bothered etc.) but it shouldn't limit PM's outside of the group(s) at all....

If it does though we could easily just set up an open group for members to join with the permission to send pm mailing list set to members (so everyone will be in a group and no one should be left out).

It technically shouldn't make a difference because its an option that has never changed even when PM's worked... so its only a theory, but if it does work then its down to some cross wiring on the forumotion programming side of things... and honestly it shouldn't have been us lot debugging it... whatever though as long as its works

The PM button still doesn't show up next to Seto's or Nexus' profile :/

Ok Luka, your now in the newly created 'PM Group' if my theory is correct, anyone inside this group should be able to PM atleast staff and other members inside that group (although you might be able to PM everyone) I doubt they'll be able to PM you back until they join the group though.

So, yeah try PM seto and then try PM'ing someone else (any other member)

It might not let you PM anyone outside of the group, but thats ok, try it and if it doesn't work I'll add them into the group to confirm the method.

It seems only people inside a group can send pms, all members can receive them (unless set against it), but they can't send them...

So it should be a matter of just adding people who want to use PM's into the group... which isn't even a hard task as we can allow members to add themselves

Although Luka, feel honoured that you were the first to try the system and you helped us crack it too

I've added nexus into the PM group too (although I didn't think he'd needed to be in it but whatever) try again with a conversation

I also need more volunteers, I'll add them into the group and then I want them to try and PM other people in the group and also people outside of the group, hopefully the people outside of the group can report back here.
