Does anybody know what caused the FSSJ transformation or was it just random?

A. Sudden burst of energy braught on by desperation B. Having 1.5 of the qualifications to turn into a Super Saiyan C. It's a movie-made Transformation and therefore no need for explaination.

That's transforming into a Super Saiyan, which is mentioned in B.

Desperation makes sense i guess since Goku was the last standing fighter and was drained out of energy.
