Yes, Halo 3 sucks, its 100% generic, did nothing new, has terrible online, sold terribly, got terrible reviews, and tottaly hasn't been the most played 360 for almost 3 years straight. And the Halo series tottally has a really small fanbase.

A very large amount of the Halo fanbase are causal gamers, in fact many of them got the game because their friends had it, and it wouldn't surprise me if many of them didn't play the single player at all.

GameSpot and GameSpy, said that the campaign was too short, especially on easier difficulty levels. IGN was highly critical of the eighth level, stating "the penultimate chapter is so bad, just thinking about it puts a rotten taste in my mouth." The New York Times said the game had a "throwaway" plot and Total Video Games judged the single-player aspect ultimately disappointing.

Other complaints focused on the artificial intelligence; critics praised the enemy AI but complained that the intelligence of the player's allies was far poorer. Bryan Vore of Game Informer said that human faces and some textures were just "embarrassing". Game Informer criticized the occasional repeated environments and poor final boss battle, and both IGN and CinemaBlend.com said that they thought a part of the story was lost by not having the Arbiter featuring as prominently as the character was in Halo 2.

Then again, almost every FPS sucks in my eyes. I get bored of all FPSs unless more content gets released continually. No wonder I love Team Fortress 2. (Among other reasons)

Edit: Also, it IS generic. Aliens aren't anything new in FPS games, many people consider Halo to be epitome of generic.

Cool, you know how to copy and paste things from wikipedia. Btw, sure they said those things, but it doesn't mean the game sucks, the gave it extremely high scores.

Okay, aside from you blatantly copying those sources from Wikipedia, I also find it hilarious how you base your opinion on articles from the gaming press. How many of those actually have read any of the books? Comics? How many have participated in the plot aside from what was barefaced in the main portion of the game? Halo's plot does borrow plenty from many sci-fi and genre conventions. Its uniqueness is derived ny how deep it actually goes. If you take the series at face value, you are only going to get face value. If you bother to go deeper into the plot, the setting and characterizations, you'll find it is a lot more complex and decidedly not-so-generic as you claim. Claiming an FPS with aliens is generic is like claiming that a sci-fi movie is generic; for all you know it COULD BE, but you again take everything at face value and base your opinion off of Wikipedia articles, which is again, rather amusing. You literally can say nothing of the gameplay, can you? Have you ever played Halo? No. That's why you go to a superfluous source for your opinions.

Finally, yes. The majority of Halo players are among the casual, but that speaks little for the hardcore fans. Just because it has a massive casual following doen't mean that at its core, a title can't have a hardcore fanbase. My best analogy would be the Dragon Ball series. I am, by and large a casual fan of the series. I like it, I watch it, but I don't get massively involved in it. Then there are people who do, and those represent the pinnacle of its fandom. Halo can hardly be considered casual merely because of its popularity. One only needs to see the dedication to detail from the boys and girls at a site like Halopedia, or even the amount of attention the title gets from MLG circuits, to see that its gameplay is strong enough to warrant continual play.

Now please, stop speaking out of your ass, and stop basing your opinion from Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V from Wikipedia. It'll help you in the long run.

See, the problem with this post is that you base almost everything in this post as if I haven't played Halo. I, in fact, still own Halo to this day. I just didn't care like typing many paragraphs about a game when I could copypasta something that the media has said, seeing as they're the professionals and everything I say would seem biased.

Also, I am done with this topic. Thanks for the lols, though.

Oh, so you have played it? Obviously you know little of the game itself, so that would, in turn, make you a casual fan of Halo, thus putting you into a state of irony. You hate Halo, yet you own it and play it, but not to the extent of fully realizing its intricacies? That's silly to me.

Come back when you can actually form an opinion that isn't derivative or based on face-value.

Jesus christ you all bicker over everything. Have any of you ever thought, "Hey, maybe I'll just let it go and not hit that respond button"?

Fucking dammit. If I see more shit about Halo in this topic I'm going to lose it. Quit taking shots at each other for once.

You're taking a leave of absence, fine then. Don't leave on a negative note.

Well, we wouldn't have a problem with it if he explained why he thinks it sucks other than copypastaing a Wiki article.

What's wrong with copypastaing a wikipedia article if it's what he thinks?

It isnt 'excellent' or '10 out of 10' because its just a simple shooter, nothing really outstanding, i personally never played online or give a flying fuck about it.

See ya Ethan.

He was attempting to not be bias. BUT I guess we should all rely on the amazing testimonial of "Halo is cool," instead of the insight of those who know much more of the subject of gaming than us.

Look, some people like Halo. Some people don't. Can't we just let our opinions be? Goodbye, FoN.

GOODBYE.

ALSO. I think it is important to point out that Yahn was talking just about the generic-ness of the GAME, not the plot that is in the books and whatnot.

Well he obviously shares the same opinion as what was said in this article. That's beyond the fact that this argument is stupid, "LOL HALO SUX" "LOL NO IT DURNT U DONT KNOW NOFING LOLOLOLOL"

I feel I should point out that FoN is obviously just running away from this discussion by leaving the forum for a few weeks. I should have expected such behavious.

Wow. Just wow. Thanks for completely ignoring a post made by someone of the staff. I guess apparently that had no affect at all. Way to totally fuck over this topic further.

Great job all around. I'm really impressed. Maybe if I just started handing out day-bans people would listen? But oh, that would be unfair Steve.

No it wouldn't, you're all being completely ignorant and it's fucking annoying. Yeah Shin, dawg is angry. And dawg is going to ban people very soon too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a pleasant guy and I have a high tolerance. But honestly? You don't even listen when I post something authoritative. Why should I even bother, I'll just skip right to the punishments from now on.

I hate having to be fair. I'd ban so many people right now and not think twice.

Enjoy your time off FON.
